Everton’s interest in Sparta Prague full-back Angelo Preciado is being blamed for his current poor showings for the Czech team.
That’s at least according to IDNES, who cover the player today and Everton’s ongoing attempts to get him causing problems.
The newspaper focuses on several players that Sparta have to make a decision on in the coming weeks, with them currently playing a balancing act between keeping them or monetising them.
Preciado is currently one who appears to be swinging towards the latter as he’s not showing his best form and appears to be preoccupied with the transfer stories regarding him.
He was even pulled out of the game after 50 minutes on Tuesday, refusing to shake the manager’s hand when he was, something that was seen as an insult to his coach.
The newspaper says, ‘he seems distracted’ and is ‘clearly mulling over a move’, something IDNES don’t see as surprising as they say Everton are ‘luring him’ to the Premier League.
A deal with the Toffees would be a ‘great transfer’ for Sparta because they know Premier League sides ‘pay royally’. Preciado is also seen as an ‘unpredictable element’ that they may now be wise to move on.
The question is whether Everton do actually want him. They need a full-back, that’s true, but there’s only been one report, and from Turkey at that, which has linked them to him. That was a month ago too.
And even if they do, they’ll surely be looking at the current situation and Preciado’s performances and questioning whether they should.
