On July 22nd, TuttoMercatoWeb reported Everton had made an offer of €8m plus €2m in potential bonuses for Hellas Verona’s Jackson Tchatchoua.
Last month, Corriere di Verona backed up Everton offering a fixed fee of €8m to sign the right-back.
Fast forward to September and Tuttosport, relayed by CalcioNapoli24, gives an insight into Everton’s late attempt to sign the 22-year-old fullback.
Hellas Verona took the Cameroon international from Royal Charleroi SC on loan in August 2023 and made his stay permanent in the summer. He has a deal lasting until 2027, but his long-term future may not be at the Italian club.
The report states Tchatchoua is ‘destined’ to help Hellas Verona make profit from his sale in the future. However, the offers tabled by the Toffees and Stade Rennais didn’t convince them.
In the ‘last few days’ of the summer window, Everton and the Ligue 1 side offered €10m and €12m respectively. Hellas Verona rejected them, and they seem to be optimistic of earning more from his sale in the future.
Tuttosport haven’t specified whether Everton’s offer included or excluded bonuses. Their initial bid of €8m plus €2m bonuses wasn’t accepted. It’s possible the Toffees would have improved their proposal by €2m, which was also rejected by Hellas Verona.
If Dyche’s side are still keen, they’ll face competition from Napoli, who have started showing interest in Tchatchoua.
