Everton and Brighton and Hove Albion could try to sound out Milan Skriniar about a possible loan move from Paris Saint Germain.

That rather surprising claim comes from Calciomercato, who put them in the mix with Juventus for the Slovakian defender today.

They report that Luis Enrique has made the ‘sensational decision’ to drop Skriniar from his squad for the clash against Montpellier this evening.

He’s one of several being left out of the group, an indication that he is not a part of their project and can leave. That makes the defender a ‘market opportunity’ for some clubs and Everton and Brighton could be among them.

CM report that the Premier League duo, and Juventus, are ‘confident’ in the possibility of agreeing a loan with an option to buy with PSG. That would only be possible if the French side cooperate in paying his salary.

Juventus, Everton and Brighton could now try to sound out the player’s availability. Whether that means contacting PSG or the player and his entourage directly isn’t made clear.

It’s also debatable if they’d actually be in the mix either. It’s fair to imagine Skriniar would be setting his sights a little higher than Everton or Brighton for a start.

Then there’s the finances involved too, with those wages likely to be huge and far beyond the Toffees even if they were heavily subsidised.

They and Brighton are strange clubs to randomly throw into the mix, though, so it may be a situation to keep an eye on, albeit while remaining highly sceptical.
