As Sean Dyche continues to drag Everton away from the relegation zone, there will be some planning going on behind the scenes at Goodison Park when it comes to next season.
Should the Toffees manage to avoid the drop, the Merseyside club will want to add some players to the current squad, which could include a striker.
Everton have been linked with a couple of goalscorers in Italy, with Beto the one most often popping up after claims a bid was placed in the dying days of the transfer window for the Portuguese.
The other has been Boulaye Dia, who is currently on loan at Salernitana from Villarreal, where the 26-year-old is enjoying a good season.
With nine goals and four assists in 23 league games, the Senegal international has caught the eye of a few clubs, which Salernitana News comment on on Wednesday.
They explain that ‘very often, if not almost always’, the player’s goals have ‘brought points to Salernitana’, making him an incredible decisive star for them.
Dia’s performances ‘are certainly attracting European teams’, and it’s pointed out the forward has ‘admirers especially in the Premier League’, with Everton the only club named.
Salernitana paid €1m for the loan to Villarreal, and have an option to buy at €12m, with the first payment of those being €4m that needs to be paid by June 30th.
There are now two options for the Serie A side, which are that they could buy him ‘and make a substantial capital gain’ by selling him on to the likes of Everton.
The other would be to keep him, and it’s stated their manager, Paulo Sousa, ‘is already thinking about the future and hoping to keep him’.
Therefore, Everton might need to be extra convincing in the summer.
