Last week, La Opinion de A Coruña reported Chelsea are one of seven Premier League sides in the picture to sign Deportivo La Coruña’s Yeremay Hernández.
Onda Cero journalist Alberto Gómez Barros took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report that the winger’s future may be in England. He mentions only Chelsea and adds that they are ‘coming’ to sign the 22-year-old.
Hernández has starred for the second division Spanish club this season, managing eight goals and three assists from 18 league games.
AS state his performances have attracted interest from other clubs, ‘especially Chelsea’. AC Milan, Newcastle United and Manchester City are also in the mix, but the Blues are the ‘most insistent’ club.
Deportivo La Coruña are aware several clubs are showing interest but are convinced the Spaniard won’t leave in the winter market. If Enzo Maresca’s side and others are still keen, they will refer to his €20m release clause, which would be within Chelsea’s reach.
The west London club would have received an encouragement after Hernández didn’t close the door on leaving the Spanish club in January.
“There are things that do not depend on me, but what is clear is that I am not going to leave Depor for anything. If I leave Depor it will be to take another step in my career. I don’t know if I’m going to go in this market. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I hope I can stay, but I don’t know,” he said.
If Chelsea were to sign him, claims elsewhere in Spain have stated they could send him on loan to RC Strasbourg.
L’Equipe relay that and then state Strasbourg would welcome Hernández only if they were to end one of the current loan deals.
They could consider terminating Chelsea left-back Caleb Wiley’s temporary stay because a shoulder injury will force him to spend several weeks on the sidelines.
