Earlier this month, Gerard Deulofeu’s agent Alberto Botines had revealed Aston Villa have showed interest in the Udinese player.
“There has been an interest from Aston Villa, but nothing concrete,” Botines told Messaggero Veneto, relayed by Tutto Udinese.
The forward has played under Unai Emery when the pair were at Sevilla during the 2014/15 season, where he managed three goals and 10 assists for the La Liga side.
Aston Villa have bolstered their defence by signing Álex Moreno from Real Betis, but the ex-Arsenal manager is still ‘waiting for reinforcements’ in all departments in the winter market.
That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who explain Emery ‘wants’ Deulofeu for the attack.
It’s claimed the ‘contacts are ongoing’, without making it clear whether it’s between the two clubs or between the Villans and the Spaniard.
The ex-Watford man, for his part, is open to joining the Premier League side.
With the agent confirming Aston Villa’s interest and the player opening the door for the transfer, a deal can be carried out in January if the two clubs can find an agreement.
Deulofeu has three goals and seven assists from 17 matches in all competitions this season.
