Leeds United have had quite an eventful summer transfer window and while it is about to slam shut, the Whites are not done with their business.
One player who is likely join before the window concludes is St. Gallen defender Isaac Schmidt, who has been vital for the Swiss club over the last three seasons.
Blick in Switzerland have reported some details of the move, hailing the full-back as a ‘European hero’ because of his goal against Trabzonspor yesterday that took St. Gallen into the Conference League group stages.
Leeds have been looking at Schmidt ‘for days’ and they have offered a ‘lucrative’ deal to him, with the deal now agreed. The outlet hail the defender and there is no bitterness regarding the exit, it’s made very clear he’s elaving through the front door with the best of wishes.
The 24-year-old will undergo a medical with the Whites soon and Blick state that if Leeds get promoted to the Premier League, St. Gallen could earn a Swiss record transfer fee of €5.5m.
If that doesn’t happen, the club are guaranteed a hefty resale value in a future transfer anyway.
The report gives the indication that St. Gallen are quite happy about the transfer because they’re getting a good amount and they seem thankful to Schmidt for his contributions.
