A few days ago, West Ham were linked with a move for Udinese centre-back Oumar Solet.

The defender scored a fantastic long-range goal for his club yesterday in a game against league leaders Inter Milan, leading to him getting more attention in Italy.

Tuttomercatoweb have looked at the Frenchman’s situation in detail, stating that Solet’s valuation has gone from ‘€0 to €30m in 6 months’.

That is because he was a free agent back in September, when he decided to have his contract at Red Bull Salzburg terminated even when the transfer window had closed. He had already made up his mind to join Udinese on a free transfer and quickly, his value has risen to €30m because of his performances since January.

That is the amount West Ham will have to pay for the 25-year-old, with Udinese set to make a major profit from the deal only months after bringing him to Friuli.

So far this season, Solet has played 11 Serie A games and has started each of those games, showing that he isn’t just a good defender but also very reliable on the ball.

Beyond West Ham, there have also been suggestions of contact being made by Manchester United and as a result, the player’s future could lie in England.

West Ham were also keen when he became a free agent and will likely regret not moving strongly enough.
