For the past few weeks, various claims made in the Spanish press said Manchester United are ‘insisting’ on signing Kieran Trippier this summer.

The Red Devils being keen on the right-back left Atlético Madrid worried as they want to retain the player.

So far, the Old Trafford club have made only one offer, around €15m, but it was rejected by the La Liga winners as they were demanding €40m for the England international, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Since then, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have ‘not returned to present any offer’. It’s been several weeks, ‘time has passed’ and ‘there was no news’ from the Premier League club.

That’s because the former Burnley man is no longer a priority for United and they have decided to continue to bet on Diogo Dalot, who will be the backup to Aaron Wan-Bissaka for the 2021/22 season.

Mundo mentions Solskjaer is delighted with the Portuguese fullback and he will be the second right-back in the squad at United.

To sum it up, Dalot ‘closes the door of Old Trafford’ for Trippier.
