Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta today spoke to the Italian media regarding the future of Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku
Loaned to the Nerazzuri by the Blues at the start of the season, the 30-year-old has his spell with the Italian side expiring this summer.
Marotta was interviewed by Radio Anch’io Lo Sport, and outlet Il Interista features his quotes about the Chelsea player.
“Lukaku’s prerogative is that he loves the shirt he wears and wants to stay with us. But he’s on loan, he’ll be back at Chelsea and we don’t technically know what they want to do. We’ll stay at the window.”
Just last week, we saw Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport highlighting Lukaku’s desire to stay at Inter Milan, with his entourage reportedly pressuring Chelsea to allow his loan to be extended.
The Nerazzurri made €113m when selling him to the Blues in 2021, and it’s no secret they’re now taking advantage of the situation and not willing to make a big investment to buy him back. That’s why the Italian media already speaks of a new loan.
With Marotta also adding some mystery about how they’ll move for Lukaku, it seems more long talks between the clubs are on the way. Maybe a good display from the striker in the Champions League final can change the scenario.
