Some days ago, Pisa’s Francesco Coppola openly clarified his desire to stay at the club despite interest from Tottenham.

This emerged after the Italian press claimed that Pisa had knocked back any offers that came their way for the centre-back, who will play in the Italian top-flight for the first time next season.

More has now emerged about Coppola’s stance about a switch to Tottenham and Quotidiano Sportivo cover it in detail, with the player having spent the previous season on loan at Serie C side Vis Pesaro.

The outlet state that the 20-year-old had the chance to make history as the first player in Vis Pesaro’s 127-year-long history to play in the Champions League.

This opportunity was handed to the Italian by Tottenham but Coppola knocked Spurs back ‘without thinking twice’.

The London club have followed the talent’s progress across the 2024/25 season in Serie C and this led to them making an approach. In January, Coppola received an offer from Ligue 1 side Lens and rejected that too because of his intentions of playing for Pisa.

That remains his goal for the 2025/26 season and he ‘doesn’t want to know anything else’, as the centre-back is only truly focused on taking part in Pisa’s pre-season training and then winning games in the Italian top-flight.
