In the past few weeks, Chelsea were linked to Chivas winger Alexis Vegas.
The rumours went back and forth between the Mexican and English media, with a few stories claiming the Blues are interested in taking the 25-year-old to the Premier League in 2023.
The North American media may have made a big noise about that, but there are still those who believe Alexis Vegas is not a suitable player for Chelsea.
That’s the opinion of former Mexico striker Luis Garcia. On Youtube, he was asked about those rumours and claimed the player doesn’t have the skills to feature for the Blues.
“Alexis Vega doesn’t have the level to play for Chelsea, you don’t have to be a genius, he’s not there for Chelsea,” said Luis Garcia (via AS Mexico).
“So much so that in the important game against Argentina in Qatar 2022, he failed, one of those that everyone fails, because as Luis Enrique said, it’s a sport of mistakes, but it is how you manage the error… He missed one starting the first half and they took him out at half time because he was erased from the game. To play for Chelsea, you need other kinds of skills.”
The latest links between Chelsea and Vegas were made just last week, with newspaper El Universal claiming the player is aiming for a move to Europe, with the Blues being one of the clubs who’ve ‘shown interest’ in his signing.
Now it’s hard to tell whether Garcia thinks Vegas is not a player who’d draw the interest from Chelsea, or if the Blues are just wrong to have him as a target.
