Fiorentina have made a move for Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee and are moving to beat Juventus to his signature.

Gazzetta dello Sport report that with Moise Kean heading to Como, Fiorentina director of football Fabio Paratici can push to sign his replacement.

The newspaper reports that negotiations are now underway with Manchester United over a paid loan worth around €5m. It will include an option to buy.

Fiorentina effort

Gazzetta state that Fiorentina are aiming for a ‘major coup’ by signing Joshua Zirkzee before the end of the transfer window.

His candidacy is ‘gaining momentum’ at Fiorentina as the Italian club works with Manchester United on a loan deal.

The plan is for the Dutchman to join on loan with an option to buy in June 2027. It remains to be seen whether a conditional obligation to buy will also be included. As it stands, it’s a straight option.

It would be surprising for Manchester United to sanction a simple option given they’re keen to move Zirkzee on from Old Trafford this summer. The two clubs are now discussing the deal structure and figures either way.

Rush to beat Juventus

Joshua Zirkzee
Joshua Zirkzee of Manchester United warms up prior to the UEFA Europa League 2024-25 match between Real Sociedad and Manchester United at Reale Arena on March 06, 2025 in San Sebastian, Spain.

Fiorentina want to accelerate those negotiations either way. They’re determined to beat Juventus to Zirkzee’s signature.

The Italian giants have long been interested in the striker but need to offload Jonathan David before they can move. That delay has opened the door for Fiorentina, who now want to beat the to punch.

The plan is to finalise Moise Kean’s move to Como for €40m and then convince Zirkzee to move to Florence, rather than wait any longer for Juventus.

Zirkzee is now Fiorentina’s top choice as they look to give manager Fabio Grosso a high-quality attacking option. Even their fanbase would see his arrival as a major transfer coup.

They just need to finalise a deal with Manchester United. Then they can convince the player to put his Juventus dreams to one side.
