Vitaly Janelt has started his third campaign with Brentford and second in the Premier League with the Bees.
The midfielder joined the English club from VfL Bochum in 2020, when they were in the Championship.
Sky Deutschland interviewed Janelt, where he was asked whether he is satisfied with his time with Brentford.
Responding to that, he said: “Definitely! I arrived here and after this long time we were promoted directly to the Championship, it couldn’t have gone better. (…) The Premier League is still the best league in the world for me and I’m sure for many others too.”
“I just try to enjoy every game that I’m on the field and I’m very happy with the last two and a half years.”
The 24-year-old has made seven league appearances this season and has been directly involved in two goals, which helped Brentford avoid two defeats
His first goal of this term was the equaliser he netted in the 84th minute in Brentford’s 1-1 draw against Everton. In the following tie, the German assisted Yoane Wissa’s 88th minute equaliser against Crystal Palace.
Janelt managed four goals and an assist from 31 league matches last season. His goal is to improve these numbers with Brentford this term.
“The first priority is of course that we at least stay in the league, we’ll see how high it goes,” Janelt explained.
“My personal goal is to always make progress on the previous season I scored four goals last year and didn’t provide an assist. Now I’ve already had one assist and one goal this season, so I’m four down ( smiles ).”
Janelt’s deal at Brentford will run down in 2026, but he is not focusing on his long-term future.
“I don’t really think about it that much. Everyone knows how fast-paced football is, but at the moment I’m feeling very well here,” he stressed.
“And who knows what will happen after Brentford – whether it’s another league, another club in England or Germany – I never rule anything out, but I’m not saying that I want to go anywhere in particular either.”
