Tuesday morning sees the Premier League fixtures released, and is an important time of the summer as it shakes fans up a little and makes it clear that club football is already on the horizon and set to return.

Eyes then turn back to the transfer window with a renewed urgency, especially if those early fixtures look on the difficult side.

That will very much be the case at Aston Villa, with Monchi working on deals to keep Unai Emery’s squad as strong as it was last season and hopefully to bring in some improvements in places.

There’s also thought towards the future, and according to Denmark’s Tipsbladet and Norway’s Nettavisen, Aston Villa have already secured a 19-year-old defender.

Ethan Amundsen-Day is on his way to the Birmingham club from FC Copenhagen, where his contract is running out at the end of this month.

The transfer is taken as done, and the Norwegian defensive talent is expected to initially join the development ranks at Aston Villa before working his way up to Emery’s selection.
