As Manchester United continue to try and find the replacement for Harry Maguire, Benjamin Pavard is pushing for a move to Old Trafford.
That’s according to Sport Bild in Germany, who report that Bayern Munich ‘have been informed’ of the versatile player’s desire, which is to team up with Erik ten Hag.
It’s recalled that talks with Manchester United have ‘been going on for many weeks’, but after their failure to sign Kyle Walker, the Bavarians told the Red Devils the Frenchman is ‘not for sale’.
This is described as a ‘blow’ for the 2018 World Cup winner, who was previously told by the no longer there Hasan Salihamdizic that he could leave this summer.
In fact, Pavard ‘wants a change of scenery’, which Manchester United can offer him, and he ‘no longer feels comfortable’ in Munich.
Regarding the price, the Premier League side are reportedly ready to pay ‘around £25m’, which equates to €29m or so, but Bayern Munich want far more than that, with requests of €45-50m.
That is said to be ‘far too high’ for Manchester United, especially since the deal taking Maguire to London has yet to be made official.
While they might have agreed terms with Pavard, the Premier League side now have to reach the same with Bayern Munich, but with such a difference in valuations, that might be tough.
Still, ‘further talks are expected to take place this week’, after the player has ‘made it clear internally again and again’ that he wants to move to Manchester United.
