Napoli’s Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly, nicknamed K2, wants out of the Serie A side, but it seems the club have other ideas.
Speaking to L’Equipe on Thursday, the player made it clear he would prefer to ply his trade somewhere else next season, with Chelsea an apparent option, but Corriere dello Sport on Friday say Napoli are setting up a ‘wall’ to prevent this.
The centre-back said he hadn’t spoken with Antonio Conte about a move to Stamford Bridge yet, but also said that could happen soon.
Napoli’s owner Aurelio De Laurentiis is known to be very strict and stubborn when it comes to players leaving his club, and after his defender’s outbursts in the French media, Corriere believe a fine could be on its way.
The Italian newspaper state Chelsea have gone beyond just being interested and even offered the player a five-year contract worth €3m/year (around £45k/week).
Koulibaly stated he would do what he feels is best for himself and his career, and with Napoli not wanting to hold talks, it seems putting himself on the transfer market was the next best thing for him.
Napoli aren’t happy, and, frankly, we really wouldn’t want to be on De Laurentiis’ bad side.
Koulibaly is a brave man.
