Once seen as one of the great talents to make it out of Stade Rennais, Brandon Soppy was transferred to Udinese for €2m back in 2021, before quickly moving to Atalanta the next year for €9.1m.

He has since been loaned to Torino until the end of the season, but that deal is about to be cut short, with the player heading to Nottingham Forest.

The news comes from Ignazio Genuardi in France, who explains the player is ‘awaited’ by the Tricky Trees, who are expected to welcome the 21-year-old before the end of the transfer window.

This comes around the same time as Serge Aurier being linked with a move to Galatasaray, themselves trying to replace Sacha Boey, who was sold to Bayern Munich in an expensive €30m or so transfer.

This merry go round of right-backs appears to be ending with Soppy to Nottingham Forest, although the young defender will be arriving at City Ground with a lack of fitness, as he has suffered a few injuries since the start of the season and only made five appearances for Torino since his summer move.

Therefore, he might not be ready straight away, with Nuno Espírito Santo potentially needing to give him a bit of time before using him.

This is all also being reported by Toro.it, who explain that Nottingham Forest have ‘come forward’ for Soppy, with Torino hoping the deal takes place.

That’s because Atalanta don’t want Soppy back, and would only cut the deal short if they had somewhere else to send him.

The belief was more news could appear in the ‘coming hours’, and Genuardi seems to have provided it.
