Tromsø IL’s Jens Hjertø-Dahl has been on Rangers’ agenda for a while. Danny Röhl’s side will have to overcome competition from several clubs in order to bring him to Ibrox.
Over the past few days, TuttoMercatoWeb covered interest shown by Rangers and other clubs.
Last Wednesday, the outlet explained Liverpool are hovering over to sign the midfielder, along with Bologna and Lazio. Two days later, the same source reported Everton, Rangers are in the battle, while he favours a move to Beşiktaş.
The latest reports via TMW on Tuesday only mentions Röhl’s side and the Turkish club, and that Rangers are in the lead to bring him to Ibrox.
The Black Eagles can still sign the 20-year-old immediately as the Turkish window is open until Friday. Rangers, on the other hand, have to at least wait until the summer.
TMW state the Istanbul club’s hesitation has allowed Rangers to make advances to secure the Norway U21 international’s services.
According to the report, Röhl’s side are now ‘ready to close the deal’ for Hjertø-Dahl to arrive at Ibrox after this season. The source explains he will earn €1m net per year at the Scottish club from the summer.
It’s claimed a ‘deal [is] expected shortly’ for him to move to Rangers after this season.
The player has a contract with the Norwegian club until December 2027. Rangers have to pay a fee to Tromsø, and TMW make no mention of the figure or about them reaching an agreement with the Eliteserien side.
The Norwegian media are yet to either back it up or reject this claim.
