RB Leipzig are on the hunt for a new permanent manager, and having been linked with multiple names in the Premier League, it would appear they’re having to cast their net a little wider… which could cause issues for Sheffield Wednesday.

Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner was pushed forward as a serious candidate, but reports in Austria from sources close to the Eagles manager made it clear it’s not something he’d jump at, partly due to the lack of power he’d have given the Red Bull group an their influence.

Fabian Hürzeler was also identified, although just like Glasner, it’s not thought the Brighton & Hove Albion manager would rush to leave the Premier League for RB Leipzig.

Wednesday’s Leipzig edition of German newspaper Bild has an article on the situation. They take claims from Sky Deutschland which stated Sheffield Wednesday’s Danny Röhl is an option, and Bild have followed up on those claims.

According to the German newspaper, Röhl wasn’t initially considered a candidate but he’s now being ‘discussed internally’ as a real option.

Red Bull Leipzig didn’t think the 35-year-old Sheffield Wednesday manager had enough experience, although their stance is changing.

Glasner is said to still be an option, as are Matthias Jaissle (currently at Al-Ahli), and free agent Roger Schmidt.
