Crystal Palace have several first team players with a contract expiring on June 30th and among them are the centre-back trio of Gary Cahill, Mamadou Sakho and Scott Dann.
The Eagles will need to bring in new faces for the heart of their defence in the next market.
Napoli’s Nikola Maksimović is a target for the Premier League side, while he is also of interest for several other clubs.
His current deal with the Naples club expires in the summer and according to Estadio Deportivo, the 29-year-old’s agent, Fali Ramadani, is searching the market to place his client at a new club.
It’s claimed the Serbian international’s representative has offered the player to Sevilla, Atlético Madrid, Real Betis and Inter Milan. An intermediary has offered the centre-back to Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
Maksimović earns €2.8m net per year with the Serie A side and has no intention tof lowering his demands. Real Betis are unwilling to cover the former Torino man’s wages and therefore, they have discarded the option to sign him.
In England, the report suggests Maksimović has been offered to Crystal Palace, and they would be ‘willing’ to meet his salary demands of €2.8m per season. According to ED, the Napoli player would give ‘great importance’ to other suitors over moving to Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace’s hopes of signing the potential free agent in the summer will increase if other suitors fail to meet his current wages.
