According to a claim in the German media, Crystal Palace are closing in on Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix.
With the uncertainty over the future of Marc Guéhi the Eagles are reportedly looking to bring a replacement for the England international.
Florian Plettenberg has reported on Crystal Palace’s pursuit for the Bundesliga player, and he says the Eagles have reached an agreement with the Frenchman over personal terms.
However, the German journalist reports the Premier League club have yet to reach an agreement with Wolfsburg over the 24-year-old.
It’s also claimed Lacroix isn’t the only central defender the south London club are looking at; with claims they are monitoring the situation with Bayer Leverkusen’s Odilon Kossounou. Lacroix is said to be Palace’s first choice at this stage as Oliver Glasner is keen to sign him.
Lacroix made 31 appearances for Wolfsburg last season, scoring four goals. He’s contracted to the club until June 2025 so they could be under pressure to sell him in this window or risk losing him on a free in 12 months’ time.
Just a week ago, reports in Germany insisted Wolfsburg knew nothing about Crystal Palace interest and hadn’t even been contacted.
