Yesterday we brought you an update that Crystal Palace were attempting to negotiate a deal for Real Betis midfielder Victor Camarasa.
The Eagles have identified the midfielder as a target this summer, and Dougie Freedman is in Seville to get a deal done.
Those talks continued overnight, and it appears that an agreement has now been reached. ABC Sevilla provide the lowdown on the discussions and the arrangement that the clubs came to.
They explain Palace had initially offered a loan with no option or obligation to buy at the end of it. Betis didn’t want that and instead proposed a different style of deal, which the clubs have now agreed upon.
Crystal Palace will pay an initial loan fee of €1.5m and, should they stay in the Premier League next season, there will be a compulsory purchase option of €15m at the end of the campaign.
This is backed up by Diario de Sevilla, who say the purchase option is ‘for an amount exceeding €12m’.
The only thing lacking now is an agreement with Camarasa himself. ABC explain that he is yet to reach a deal with Palace.
For much of this week, his intention has been unclear, with one source saying he’d like to go back to the Premier League and another stating he’d prefer to stay at Betis.
A source close to the player confirmed this to Sport Witness, saying that Camarasa is yet to make a decision on his future but has options in the Premier League and Europe’s other big leagues this summer.
