Crystal Palace have received encouragement in their efforts to sign Fenerbahçe’s Jayden Oosterwolde this summer.
Marc Guéhi and Maxence Lacroix have left the Premier League side this year. It leaves them with Jaydee Canvot, Chris Richards and Chadi Riad as the three centre-backs in the squad.
Crystal Palace are looking to improve their defence next season and have Oosterwolde on their target list.
On July 30th, Sport Witness covered claims from Turkey that the Eagles and AS Roma have informed his agent of a willingness to make an offer.
Crystal Palace’s offer
Sabah back up AS Roma’s interest in a report focusing mainly on Pierre Sage’s side.
The newspaper claims the latter are preparing an official offer of around €20m for the Dutchman.
His contract lasts until 2028, but the Yellow Canaries are open to evaluating offers in this window. That’s mainly because of the rule in Turkish football, where a squad can’t have over 14 foreign players.
This should help Crystal Palace sign Jayden Oosterwolde, who can also operate as a left-back.
Player’s stance a double boost for Crystal Palace
The 25-year-old’s preference has been to continue at the Istanbul club, especially after the appointment of İsmail Kartal in June.
However, Sabah claim Jayden Oosterwolde has now changed his stance. He has a wish of playing in the Premier League and therefore, he’s positively inclined towards the UEFA Conference League winners.
In short, the versatile defender has ‘his heart set’ on a move to England this summer. This is the second reason for the double boost.
With all parties in favour of a transfer, the move should go through, provided a €20m fee is enough to convince the Turkish club.
There could be more developments if and when the London club submit a formal bid. Last season, He played 4,076 minutes from 41 matches.
