Coventry City are now edging closer towards completing the deal for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Aurèle Amenda this summer.
The Sky Blues are already working on improving Frank Lampard’s squad, after securing promotion to the Premier League.
Coventry City have identified Amenda as their top defensive target and have already made concrete progress.
On Monday, Sport Witness covered claims from Germany that the English club are in advanced negotiations with the Bundesliga side for a €20m deal. The centre-back is also keen on making a switch to England.

Aurèle Amenda should join the newly promoted Premier League side unless there is a last-minute twist.
That’s according to Bild, who cover Coventry City’s further advances to sign the 22-year-old. He is ‘on the verge of leaving’ Eintracht Frankfurt for the English club.
The ‘deal is practically complete’ as the Sky Blues have finalised the operation. The two clubs have been sorting out the last details of a transfer that will cost Coventry City around €20m.
Amenda has to complete his medical tests for Coventry City to complete the transfer. He’ll receive the green light from the Bundesliga side once the final details are ironed out.
Eintracht Frankfurt have appointed Adi Hütter as their manager for next season. He replaced Albert Riera, and the defender played a key role under the latter this year.
Amenda isn’t certain of having an important role next season and has asked to leave. Hütter’s side have granted his wish, after receiving a €20m bid from Coventry City.
Amenda’s sale needed
The German club invested €9m plus bonuses to sign the Switzerland international from Young Boys in 2024. They will now make a profit from the sale to Coventry City.
Aurèle Amenda was a ‘key player’ at Eintracht Frankfurt, but his sale is needed for sporting director Markus Krösche to carry out new signings.
He played 1,899 minutes from 29 matches last season.
