Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong has admitted he will miss teammate Moussa Diaby this season following the Frenchman’s move to Aston Villa.
The full-back has been speaking to Marca regarding his career to date and his relationship with Diaby, which proved to be a fruitful one for the pair.
The Netherlands international managed nine goals and 11 assists last season, a tally largely achieved thanks to his working relationship with Diaby on the right wing.
The pair were something of a deadly duo for the German side, something that has not gone unnoticed by clubs around Europe.
Frimpong has long been linked with a move to the Premier League while Diaby has already secured it, with Aston Villa moving quickly to get his signature in a €55m move at the end of last month.
That was a surprise move for many, with Diaby having been linked to the likes of Paris Saint Germain over the last year.
Frimpong believes his former teammate has made the right choice, though, largely because of the chance to play in the Premier League.
“I am happy that he has gone to the Premier League, which, in my opinion, is the best league in the world,” he said.
“We knew each other well and we formed a great partnership, very quick and electric, we played by heart. He assisted most of my goals and vice versa. Of course, I will miss him… but he will miss me too.”
