Earlier this month, Arsenal recalled Marquinhos from his loan spell at FC Nantes and they could allow him to leave again in the winter market.

On Monday, Rádio Itatiaia reported Corinthians have held preliminary talks with Arsenal to take the 20-year-old on a loan deal.

This is backed up by Globo Esporte, who also provide fresh updates on the Brazilian club’s negotiations to secure the deal.

It’s claimed ‘conversations are well underway’ between Corinthians and Arsenal for a loan deal with a purchase option. Marquinhos’ contract lasts until 2027 and the report makes no mention of the fee needed to buy him.

The winger was restricted to 150 minutes of action from seven games at Nantes, resulting in the north London club cutting short his stay in France.

He isn’t going to get regular minutes under Mikel Arteta this season, and therefore the Gunners will accept a loan move. With Arsenal in serious talks with Corinthians, the deal could go through with an option to buy.

The Brazil U23 international is currently representing his country at the pre-Olympic tournament.

Arsenal signed Marquinhos from São Paulo in 2022 and he spent the last year on loan at Norwich City and Nantes.
