On January 12th, Foot Mercato reported Manchester United are ahead in the chase for Atalanta star Giorgio Scalvini.

Two days later, Sportitalia explained that the Red Devils have made an approach for a deal in the winter market.

Calciomercato mention Manchester United’s interest in a report that discusses the Serie A side’s plans for the 20-year-old.

After La Dea’s weekend clash against Udinese, the centre-back admitted that he wants to show on the pitch that he deserves the renewal. Calciomercato relay his quotes and add that his deal will be extended until 2028.

This will strengthen Atalanta’s position when top clubs are expected to make approaches for the Italy international in the summer. The report adds his valuation now exceeds €50m and is approaching €60m.

From Italy, Napoli and Inter Milan are showing interest but it’s difficult for them to meet La Dea’s asking price. Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético Madrid are the clubs from abroad in the picture for the defender.

Calciomercato explain that the ‘greatest danger’ may come from Manchester United, who are looking for a centre-back and have the Atalanta star in their sights. It’s said the €60m request is not an ‘insurmountable obstacle’ for Erik ten Hag’s side.

Even for the summer, that sounds like a big fee, and there doesn’t feel an awful lot to it at this stage.
