While he is no longer a key player under Jürgen Klopp these days, Roberto Firmino still brings a lot to Liverpool when he’s on the pitch.
The 31-year-old still boasts nine goals and four assists in 22 appearances despite seeing his game time for the Reds reduced drastically following the arrival of Darwin Nuñez in the summer.
His contract with Liverpool does run out in the summer, and while there has been talk of him potentially renewing, there are also clubs looking at him for a good free transfer.
Among those are Inter, who are at a crossroads when it comes to Romelu Lukaku’s future, who has struggled to do anything positive for vast parts of the current season.
Renewing the loan with Chelsea would cost them a lot of money, and that’s why they are looking at alternatives in the summer.
One of those is Firmino, alongside Marcus Thuram, and Gazzetta dello Sport state he has ‘all the requisites to be at Inter’ going forward.
In facts, ‘contacts have started’, but it’s made very clear that it is ‘not an easy negotiation’, likely due to the wages on demand from the Brazilian.
Certainly one to keep an eye on in the coming months, especially if Lukaku’s situation under Simone Inzaghi doesn’t improve.
