Last month, Real Betis officials travelled to England to hold talks with Manchester United for Antony, just days after speaking to his agent. The winger impressed for the La Liga club on loan this year and they want to bring him back.

Two days ago, we covered claims from Spain that there’s little movement in this operation since Real Betis’ trip to England.

On Thursday, Real Betis president Ángel Haro insisted they won’t “go crazy” to sign the Manchester United player again. He also made clear the 25-year-old has to lower his salary to secure a return to the club.

The Brazil international posted an image on social media of him training whilst wearing Real Betis shorts. ABC Sevilla say this is him ‘giving the nod’ to the Andalusian club as his future still needs to be clarified.

ABC Sevilla state he’s willing to adjust his salary to make it easier for Betis to sign him and is waiting for the club to find an agreement with Manchester United for a new loan deal.

Friday’s edition of AS reports the Spanish side intend to make the attacker their big signing of this summer. They have to be patient as the operation is ‘moving slowly’ and they may have to wait until the end of the window to secure his services.

Antony, who has a desire to return to Real Betis, has to adjust his salary and this has to be negotiated with his agent. Manuel Pellegrini’s side are clear that they won’t make an exception for him.

The Andalusian club will wait for him to return, while Manchester United are said to be looking for a sale. If the Red Devils don’t receive any ‘high-flying offers’, Real Betis believe he’ll be closer to joining them.

At Real Betis, they are ‘confident United will eventually give in’, and give them a new loan deal. Their confidence may be misplaced, and the strategy could backfire if Amorim’s side can sell Antony to another club.
