Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni has ended up on Manchester United’s agenda.
The centre-back has featured 27 times in all competitions this season and has a contract expiring in 2024. The Serie A side want to tie him down to a new deal.
Inter’s efforts to secure the 23-year-old’s long-term future could be jeopardised by Manchester United, according to InterLive.it.
The defender earns €4m per year, which includes €2.7m fixed salary. His agent wants it to be raised to €6m to sign an extension, while Simone Inzaghi’s side are offering €4.5m plus bonuses.
A ‘concrete threat’ to Inter could arrive from Erik ten Hag’s side as they could ‘go as high as’ offering €8m per year for the Italy international, ‘triggering a new alarm’ at the San Siro.
Despite the potential threat from Manchester United, Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta appears confident of retaining the player. He has an excellent relationship with Bastoni’s agent and a meeting is scheduled between the two parties after Inter’s clash against Porto on March 14th.
Inter could raise their salary offer by €1m and it needs to be seen whether this is enough to convince Bastoni to sign an extension.
