Back in August, Bild stated SC Freiburg were interested in Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto and he was keen on joining them in the summer window.
A deal didn’t take shape and the Whites refused to allow the 20-year-old to leave Elland Road.
The Leeds player continues to be on the Bundesliga side’s radar, according to a fresh report from Bild.
Freiburg are focusing on buying their top targets in the winter market and if a potential target is made available, they are ready to act. Bild indicate they have around €15m to spend.
If not, the German club will look for loan signings and postpone deals for their key targets for next summer.
Gnonto is identified as a target for the attack and remains high on their list.
It’s said Freiburg have been working on signing him for ‘almost two years’ and he wanted to join them in the summer. However, Leeds ‘completely refused’ to sanction a move but the situation may be different in January.
Daniel Farke has mainly used the Italy international as a substitute this season and he could leave the Championship side.
Bild state Leeds haven’t yet made a final decision on the attacker and Freiburg continue to keep a close eye on his situation at Elland Road. The report adds Gnonto and Freiburg are both very interested in a transfer.
On Friday, Il Romanista reported Gnonto wants to leave Leeds in January and they would need a convincing offer to sanction his sale. Bild have now backed up his desire to leave the Championship side.
