Pretty much ever since the transfer window shut, the Italian press have been pushing the idea that Leeds United are interested in Noah Okafor.
That shouldn’t be too much of a surprise, since the Elland Road side are in need of some attacking reinforcements that never arrived in the summer.
The signing of Wilfried Gnonto, as impactful as his cameo was against Liverpool, was certainly one for the future at Leeds, which is why another striker wouldn’t go amiss in Jesse Marsch’s plans.
This is where Okafor would come in, as the 22-year-old has been in fine form for RB Salzburg this season, scoring nine goals and picking up two assists in 19 appearances.
Three of those have come in the Champions League, showing he isn’t scared of the big occasions, which makes him an ideal signing for Leeds, who face those on a regular basis in the Premier League.
Milan, who have already faced him this season, like what they have seen, and are also keen, but the price put forward by the Austrian side is putting them off.
This is according to Calciomercato, who explain Salzburg, who paid €12m for him, are now ‘asking for at least €30-35m’.
That’s a fee Leeds could afford, since they were prepared to pay such an amount for Charles De Ketelaere in the summer, and that money is probably still there, waiting to be spent.
The Elland Road side are mentioned here as competition, once again, for Milan, and it could come down, this time, at least, to who has the most money.
