Earlier on Wednesday, a report from France appeared claiming that Barcelona were interested in signing Everton star Amadou Onana.
The midfielder is one of the very few players that could actually bring the Toffees a lot of money, although it comes at a time when they are battling against relegation, made all the more difficult by their 10 point deduction.
However, Mundo Deportivo, who comment on the news that Barcelona want the Everton player, make it clear any operation for the Belgium international will take place next summer.
They recall they had already revealed the Catalans’ interest in the midfielder a while ago for the summer transfer window, and that idea remains the same.
While Barcelona do want a new midfielder in January, they would ideally like that to be a loan, which Onana will not be.
Add to that the fact Everton want €50-60m for their star player, and him arriving in January in Spain is borderline impossible.
That’s why Barcelona ‘are waiting for the summer’ to have the money available to afford Onana, allowing him to finish the season at Goodison Park, hopefully on the high of no relegation, in the process.
