After a rather torrid start to the season by their standards, Celtic will now be very active on the transfer market in the coming days.
Brendan Rodgers will want to turn things around at Parkhead as quickly as possible, and one of the first areas he wants to address appears to be up front.
The man Celtic have been trying to go after is Danish striker Mathias Kvistgaarden, who currently plays for Brøndby IF in his home country, according to B.T. Spor journalist Farzam Abolhosseini.
Taking to Twitter, he reveals that the Scottish club offered DKK 35m (just over €4m) for the 21-year-old ‘last week’, but were turned down.
Celtic then told Brøndby they ‘wanted to pay even more’ for the forward, but were given the ‘cold shoulder’ by the Danes, who have made it very clear they aren’t interested in selling their player.
The Parkhead residents aren’t the only ones after him either, as it’s added that Houston Dynamo in the MLS also made a bid for Kvistgaarden, but were turned down as well.
It’s added in an article on their website that Brøndby believe that the player ‘can bring a greater amount’ than the €4m offered by Celtic in the future.
Kvistgaarden currently has one goal and two assists in six league appearances to his name this season.
Celtic bød i sidste uge 35 millioner kroner for Mathias Kvistgaarden, men Brøndby afviste det prompte. Den skotske mesterklub ville endda betale endnu mere, men fik en kold skulder. Også Houston Dynamo har budt og fået nej. https://t.co/ks1WO9gerE
