Flamengo have taken up a ‘new negotiation model’ as they continue to plot an ambitious move for West Ham United’s Lucas Paquetá.
That’s according to Gazeta do UrUbu, who cover the situation today and say the Brazilian club aren’t giving up their hopes of a deal this summer.
They report that Flamengo are determined to bring Paquetá back to the club and want to convince West Ham to release the player, something the Hammers have been resistant to.
They’ve made it clear they don’t want to lose the midfielder, even with potential betting charges hanging over him, and have been resistant to any negotiations.
Flamengo have been monitoring the situation around Paquetá closely, though, and the idea of him spending time away from European football has been gaining strength in the background.
Paquetá is keen on the idea and Flamengo have been insistent, but West Ham maintain he is a key play, and they are focused on keeping him.
Because of that the Brazilians have changed tact, building up an ‘attractive financial offer’ that they believe could tempt West Ham to give Paquetá up, even on loan. They’re using that plus Paquetá’s desire to return to try and change the conversation.
