If there’s something that the entire Portuguese media agrees, it’s that Manchester United are still to make a bid for Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
We’ve found two different slants from the local media about the player today, and both of them agree that the Red Devils are still to make an effort to sign the 24-year-old.
Starting with O Jogo, they say Sporting are waiting for a move from Manchester United ‘in the next hours’. That means until the end of Sunday.
The fact that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted he’s waiting for more signings is seen as a sign that the Red Devils will move for the player before the end of the transfer window, and the Lions now wait for a contact from the midfielder’s representative.
Now Correio da Manhã isn’t so sure about that. They claim that Sporting are about to activate their ‘Plan B’ in case United don’t pay what they want for Fernandes.
This plan would be to make money with four other sales: Wendel, Raphinha, Marcos Acuña and Bas Dost. All in case a bid of €70m does not arrive for the captain.
It’s claimed that even if United make a first bid for Fernandes, it’s known that it will not match the amount demanded by the Lisbon side. So it would still take a while until clubs get to an agreement, in case they ever do.
