James McAtee has had to settle for a backup role at Manchester City, limiting to only three league starts last season.

The attacking midfielder is attracting interest from Eintracht Frankfurt. Earlier this week, he made a trip to Germany to visit their training facilities and stadium and to hold talks with them.

Three days ago, Bild reported the Bundesliga club find Manchester City’s €30m demand for McAtee to be high. They suggested Eintracht Frankfurt can only afford to sign him if they were to sell Hugo Ekitiké.

A fresh report from Bild claims they are expecting to earn €100m from the Frenchman’s sale to Liverpool. They plan to reinvest part of the fee in restricting their squad and the Manchester City player is their target list.

It’s claimed the German club are still in talks with the 22-year-old’s representative over a potential move.

Bild reiterates Eintracht Frankfurt can’t match Manchester City’s €25-30m request and won’t go ahead if Pep Guardiola’s remain firm. It looks like they won’t meet the Citizens’ request even if Ekitiké is sold.

They continue to monitor his situation to see if the Premier League side will lower their request.

McAtee, for his part, is impressed with Eintracht Frankfurt’s project. The report indicates Manchester City could bring the price down if he were to express his desire to join the German club.

Essentially, Eintracht Frankfurt want Manchester City and the player to make an effort to help them sign McAtee.
