FC LNZ Cherkasy have identified Sunderland’s Jewison Bennette as a target, according to a report from Ukraine.
The winger came off the bench in the Black Cats’ 2-0 defeat to Preston North End in the EFL Cup last August and that has been his only appearance of this season.
TaToTake, relayed by Ukraine’s Tribuna, claim FC LNZ Cherkasy can offer the Sunderland player an escape route in the coming weeks.
The winter window in Ukraine remains open until March 11th and LNZ Cherkasy have two weeks to try and sign the 20-year-old.
The report states the Ukrainian club are working on strengthening their wing position and are showing ‘substantial interest’ in the Costa Rica international. It’s not clear if they want to sign Bennette on loan or via a permanent transfer.
There’s also no mention or indication of whether LNZ Cherkasy have made contact with the player’s camp, Sunderland or both.
Régis Le Bris has left the attacker out of his core plans this season and a move away from Sunderland could help Bennette enjoy more minutes.
LNZ Cherkasy seem to be working on this potential operation, and time will tell whether they will be successful.
