TSG Hoffenheim are set to receive an ‘unexpected windfall’ from Georginio Rutter’s impending move from Leeds United to Brighton and Hove Albion.
That’s according to Sky Sports Germany, who report the German side will be getting at least €7m from the move as part of their own agreement with Leeds.
They explain that Hoffenheim initially sold Rutter to Leeds for €34m but thanks to clauses included in that deal, they’re set to benefit again.
Rutter is now on the verge of joining Brighton in a potential €50m deal, having already passed his medical and signed a long-term contract with the Seagulls.
Leeds won’t be getting all of that money, though, as there are various resale clause in the original deal with Hoffenheim that they’ll have to pay out on.
The German side are set to receive a further €6-7m from the deal and will earn this fee immediately, and before the end of the summer transfer window to boot.
That means they’ll have pocketed a total of €40m from Leeds for Rutter, overall, a superb deal given they paid just €750,000 to sign him from Stade Rennais in 2020.
