Real Sociedad are open about their desire to sign Donny van de Beek from Manchester United this summer but know the deal will not be an easy one.
That’s according to Noticias de Gipuzkoa, who cover the potential transfer today and the various difficulties in getting it over the line.
The newspaper explains that La Real admit Van de Beek is one of the goals they have to strengthen the centre of their midfield and that the possibility of signing him this summer exists.
They consider the Dutchman as an ideal and appear to have already received the okay from the player, who is convinced about the switch.
The bigger issue is finding an agreement with Manchester United. They don’t have Van de Beek in their plans and are even eyeing up Sofyan Amrabat, which would further push him down the pecking order at Old Trafford, but finding a deal that suits both clubs is hard.
La Real have acknowledged to the newspaper that they are contemplating both options for Van de Beek this summer, a loan deal or a permanent transfer. A loan deal would include a purchase option and that was the initial offer they made to United.
They’re more interested in that option as it would allow them to run ‘few risks’ but Manchester United would prefer to sell outright, even if they face losing out considerably given the money they paid.
Neither club are in a rush to seal the deal, particularly Manchester United, who have given other exits their priority at this moment in time. Thus, a deal for Van de Beek is not imminent.
The interest is there, though, and talks have taken place between the two clubs about a potential deal, which could come to fruition later in the window.
