Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta is drawing some interest from Spain, according to the latest reports.

Journalist Ignazio Genuardi writes that Real Betis are keen on signing the 26-year-old from the Eagles.

The La Liga side recently negotiated their centre-forward Borja Iglesias with Bayer Leverkusen, and now look for a replacement in the market.

It’s said Betis are ‘notably exploring the track’ leading to Mateta, although there’s no information on how advanced the talks with Crystal Palace could be.

The Spanish club are claimed to be working hard to ‘strengthen their line of attack’ and see the Frenchman as the suitable option.

Mateta is getting regular playing time for Crystal Palace this season, as even though he got benched for a couple o fmonths, he’s been their main striker since December.

The player has five goals and four assists in 22 appearances, and it remains to be seen whether the Eagles would let him go in the middle of the season.

Mateta is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €7m, and has a contract with Crystal Palace until 2026.
