If you were paying attention to the Arsenal section of our website on Wednesday, you might have seen a story from Spain claiming the Gunners had all but wrapped up a deal to bring Layvin Kurzawa to the Emirates.
It came from Todofichajes.com and we remained somewhat skeptical; not saying they were wrong, but just a bit cautious, as none of the usual French sources were backing it up.
Fast forward to Thursday, and Foot Mercato in France are now giving a bit of information from their end regarding Kurzawa’s situation at Paris Saint-Germain.
For them, he certainly hasn’t put pen to paper to a long-term contract at Arsenal, and there might even be a (very slim) chance of him staying with the Ligue 1 club.
At least, that’s what Leonardo, their technical director, seems to want, as talks have been reopened with the left-back for an extension on his deal currently set to run out on June 30th.
Foot Mercato explain Kurzawa had been ‘reassured’ by Thomas Tuchel, and his performances backed that up, as he’s provided strong competition to Juan Bernat, who was once immovable on the left hand side of the defence.
However, all this might not be enough to convince him to stay, as the former Monaco defender still has ‘the desire to look elsewhere and wants to discover a new experience abroad’.
Barcelona and Arsenal are mentioned, as are Juventus, who are ‘still interested’ in Kurzawa’s profile.
It doesn’t seem to be all wrapped up yet.
