Spanish side Malaga are hopeful that Newcastle United will allow them to keep youngster Antoñito Cordero, so he can continue his development with them.
That’s at least according to Fundo Segunda, who say Malaga are hoping to convince Newcastle to keep their starlet.
They explain that the Spanish side do not want to lose one of their most promising talents from their youth academy, with reports that Newcastle have already wrapped up a deal for Antoñito now widespread.
They would prefer to maintain their relationship and want to try and convince the player and Newcastle to let him spend his first year with the Magpies on loan back with them.
The Andalusian side believe that the loan would be beneficial for all parties. Antoñito would continue to get playing time in an environment he knows well.
He can maintain his progress and move to Newcastle a more rounded, ready to compete player. Malaga, for their part, would avoid losing a player who has been key for them and is essential to their promotion.
No formal negotiations are open at this moment in time but the sporting directors at Malaga are considering the possibility ahead of the summer.
The opinion of Eddie Howe and the rest of the Newcastle staff will be crucial, as will any conditions they potentially put on a loan deal. But Malaga intend to approach them anyway in hope of keeping Antoñito a little while longer.
Now we would point out that is a source we haven’t used before, so will take their information with a pinch of salt, but it is an idea that makes plenty of sense and one we could see happening despite that.
