Bryan Gil’s unfortunate injury is unlikely to stop talks happening between Tottenham and Girona at some point this summer about a permanent transfer.
That’s according to AS, who say there still remains a distinct possibility that the winger will end up with the Spanish side permanently.
The newspaper explains that while the winger is currently focused on his recovery after undergoing surgery on a knee injury this week, there is attention to what happens next.
Hope had been, at least for Tottenham, that he would be sold to Girona permanently as they have an option to sign him included in their loan deal.
AS say it ‘wouldn’t be surprising’ if they sit down and talk to Tottenham again starting from June 30th, when the current loan deal expires.
They’re unlikely to pay the €15m clause they negotiated with Tottenham but sporting director Quique Cárcel is ‘carefully studying the option’ and the numbers are being crunch on it to determine the viability of a transfer.
Both Míchel and the sporting management are very fond of the Tottenham loanee and believe there is even potential for further development in the 24-year-old.
They are by no means closing the door on Gil, but they are likely to try and negotiate a reduction given Gil’s contract at Tottenham expires in 2026. They also need to see how he recovers from his injury.
Gil wouldn’t mind signing permanently though and the club like him, so there’s a deal to be doon despite the setback this week.
