Tottenham forward Bryan Gil remains a target for Valencia before the end of the transfer window, but the clubs will have to work out an agreement for a loan deal.

We covered a report from Spain yesterday that Gil was a target for Valencia manager Jose Bordalas and they were pushing to try and get a loan deal done before the window shuts on Monday.

Marca cover the situation today and state that Valencia are ‘keeping alive’ their hopes of agreeing a loan deal with Tottenham for the youngster.

They confirm he is a player that is liked by Bordalas, and Tottenham have agreed to listen to their proposal.

Spurs are asking for a fee for the loan, but Valencia chief Peter Lim is ‘not in favour’ of paying a rental fee for a player who will only be at the club for four months.

At the moment, they only consider a free loan to be an ‘interesting option’, particularly as they would be paying Gil’s wages.

Estadio Deportivo back things up somewhat, stating that Tottenham believe a loan deal would be the ‘best thing’ for Gil as it will help him continue his development.

However, they are being ‘tough negotiators’ in the deal after spending €25m to sign the Spaniard in the first place, so are asking for €1.5m for the loan move.

They confirm that Valencia don’t want to pay that price, as they’d be covering his wages, and so will ‘try to lower’ Spurs’ demands before deadline day.
