Earlier today, we covered claims from Italy that Atalanta are keen on signing Celtic’s Matt O’Riley. It was also stated they have made an offer to Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Gazzetta dello Sport backs that up and provides more on the Serie A side’s efforts to try and sign the Celtic star.

Aleksej Mirančuk is set to leave the Italian club, while they could see Teun Koopmeiners move elsewhere this summer. Therefore, they are looking for a new midfielder and O’Riley has emerged as a new target.

It’s claimed Atalanta have made contact with both Celtic and the 23-year-old’s entourage, and are pushing to secure the Denmark international’s services this summer.

The report further adds La Dea have tabled a bid of around €15m, which hasn’t convinced Brendan Rodgers’ side. According to Gazzetta, the Scottish champions are requesting close to €25m and this is a ‘stumbling block’ for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.

There’s no mention if the Dane is willing to leave Celtic for the Europa League winners. He starred last season, managing 19 goals and 18 assists for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
