Arsenal’s Sead Kolašinac joined Schalke on loan in the winter market, as he and others players were brought in to help the club avoid relegation.

These additions, however, didn’t didn’t stop the German club from dropping to the second division. They have a desire to retain Kolašinac and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar for next season, to improve their chances of returning to the top flight.

On April 30th, Ruhr 24 reported the Gunners owned player must take a pay cut in order to complete a permanent move to Schalke this summer.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international’s contract at the north London club runs down in 2022 and he receives an annual salary of €8m.

Sport1 on Wednesday explain Schalke are in a ‘hurry’, when it comes to sorting out the future of Huntelaar and Kolašinac. The Bundesliga 2 club want to retain the duo because they can act as leaders and role models within the dressing room.

According to the claims, there will be ‘final talks’ with Huntelaar and Kolašinac later this week. Schalke bosses want to have ‘clarity quickly’ and avoid dragging out these two topics.

The situations are different because the Dutchman is a free agent, while the left-back has as ‘high-value contract’ with Mikel Arteta’s side. Arsenal, for their part, are ‘ready to give up’ their defender.

With both clubs interested in doing business, a deal could be concluded if Kolašinac can be convinced over the transfer.
