AIK are hoping to sign Sheffield United’s Ismaila Coulibaly after the January transfer window closes, should he fail to move elsewhere on deadline day.
That’s according to Fotboll Skanalen and Aftonbladet, who say AIK will be his choice if one of his other suitors do not secure his signature on the final day of the window.
The newspaper explains that Coulibaly has been linked with a move to AIK throughout the January window, but a deal has not yet been struck, as he has suitors elsewhere.
“Ismaila is a player I know well,” he was quoted saying.
“If he ends up in AIK, it would be good, but I think there are quite a few other clubs that are in the picture. And we have a challenge with our foreigner quota. So, we’ll see. There are probably many clubs involved.”
Aftonbladet add that AIK hope to sign Coulibaly from Sheffield United if the midfielder does not find a different club on deadline day.
Nothing has been agreed but all indications are that he will choose AIK if he can’t find a different side to join today.
That’s a move that would make sense as he played alongside Berntsen at Sarpsborg, so could be tempted into the switch by his former teammate.
