In the last week of April, Wolverhampton Wanderers officials held talks with Valencia and several names were ‘put on the table’.
That’s according to Super Deporte, who add the La Liga side will have to raise €35m from selling some of their players in the summer.
The likes of Maxi Gómez, Mouctar Diakhaby, Kang-in Lee and Gonçalo Guedes are included in their transferable list.
Valencia are one of the clubs interested in Rafa Mir, who is currently on loan at SD Huesca from Wolves.
The Spaniard was the first name put on the table during the chat between the two clubs and one option is for him to replace Gómez at the Mestalla. For this to happen, Los Ches must first sell the Uruguayan and it won’t be an easy task.
The Portugal international is one of the top earners and Valencia plan to reduce their salary budget by letting him leave in the summer.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side are interested in the winger, and he’s represented by Jorge Mendes, who has close ties to the English club. Therefore, this option is a ‘possibility to consider.’
If Mir is to be allowed to join Valencia on loan as a part of the deal for Guedes, the striker will first have to sign a new contract at Molineux, since his current deal runs down in 2022.
Meanwhile, Lee’s contract also expires at the end of next season and he’s decided not to sign an extension. Wolves have an interest in the Korean and Valencia could use him to take Mir in return.
To sum it up, Valencia are looking to sign Mir, while Wolves are interested in the two Los Ches players. The Spanish club could send either of them to Molineux and Mir could move in the opposite direction.
